New Shores

I spent the past few weeks in Europe for a family celebration. Beside my home town in northern Germany, I visited Spain (Mallorca) with my mother, and we went on to Austria and met up with relatives I had not seen in about 30 years. All this meant beautiful sights, fun times, and that funny awkwardness that comes with meeting people who last saw you when you were “this” (imagine a hand held about three feet above the ground) tall.

Setting out, I did not expect I would have time for art, but there was plenty of room in my suitcase, so I packed the coloured pencils just in case. As it turned out, I did find some time and got most of the way through a drawing.
